Spring Classes - High School

Classes for continuing VRC Students

We will have a few classes for continuing High School students. These are primarily for VRC rookies who want to improve their skills for next year.

Introduction to CAD for VRC

Beginning Computer Aided Design (CAD) will introduce students to Computer Aided Design. Students will learn how to use the CAD program Fusion 360. They will learn how to manipulate and use parts and assemblies. The course will concentrate on Computer Aided Design (CAD) for Vex Robotics, but students will learn the basics of CAD for designing robots and other real world objects. See the schedule below.

Intermediate C++

Intermediate C++ we will introduce PROS, version control with GIT, PID control for lifting, and PID control for motion. Filtering of sensors and driver assist macros may be introduced. Field odometry may be introduced. See the schedule below.

Introduction to C++

For those students that never took the programming class or need a refresher. Students begin working in C++, learn basic syntax, spacing and formatting, comments, embedded data types, conditional statements and how these relate to the robot. C++ is a textual language that has formed the base for some of the more common languages today such as java and is a great foundation for programmers. Then we move on to various loops and, finally, to functions, passing variables by value. By the end of this class students will know how to organize their code in industry standard formats paving their way to solve complex algorithms. Basic autonomous and drive control will be featured.

Robot in 3 Days

A tradition in VRC is the RI3 or Robot in 3 Days. This won't be three full days, but 4 hous a week for 5 weeks. Students will analyze and build a robot for a new VRC game. We will build 6 competition ready robots almost 6 months before the first competition.

Spring Schedule

More Spring Classes Coming Soon!

VEX IQ University (Starts May 6) : The greatest, most fun, robotics event imagined. A five week build of the new VEXIQ game by our VRC students, Robot Revolution Staff, Alumni, and even parents if they would like to join in. We will all build robots for the brand new VEX IQ Challenge and compete against each other for epic bragging rights. Only former VRC students (and parents) or incoming VRC students (grades 8-12 in Fall 2024) are allowed. Students that will participate in the VEX IQ challenge next year can not attend. Signup will be available soon.

Summer Camp : (Starts June 24) Students will get supervised and directed build time to explore new ideas. For the competition VRC team members it's a chance to push skills to the next level or test ideas for the new game. We will have the 2024-2025 VRC Competition field available and ready for use. Signup will be available soon.
